Lotus Flower Stitch - Stitch Sample

Description

These beautiful lotus flowers will look amazing on any home, baby wear and accessory project. The stitch is a bit more time consuming and it might be a bit more challenging to beginners, but the end result is worth the effort.

Difficulty level: Advanced

Instructions

You need a stitch number multiple of 6 + 1 + 2 edge stitches. Repeat the pattern between the arrows as many times as you like.

Purl all stitches on the wrong side rows (1, 3, etc.). Work all stitches on the right side rows (2, 4, etc.) from right to left, as shown in the chart.

- p5togm5 - purl 5 together and make 5 (purl 5 together but keep them on the left needle; bring yarn behind the right needle and purl 1 through the same 5 stitches for a total of 3 new stitches; bring yarn behind the right needle again and purl one more through the same 5 stitches for a total of 5 new stitches; drop the original 5 stitches from your left needle)

- p3togm3 - purl 3 together and make 3 (purl 3 together but keep them on the left needle; bring yarn behind the right needle and purl 1 through the same 3 stitches for a total of 3 new stitches; drop the original 3 stitches from your left needle)

Traditional Instructions

Row 1 (WS): edge st, purl across to last st, edge st
Row 2 (RS): edge st, p1 * p5togm5, p1; repeat from * to last st, edge st
Row 3: edge st, purl across to last st, edge st
Row 4: edge st, p3togm3, p1, * p5togm5, p1; repeat from * to last 4 sts, p3togm3, edge st

Repeat rows 1 through 4.
